Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

“The objective of the hotel business should not be limited to earning profit. Providing quality service to customers is also a social responsibility. Only if entrepreneurs follow the three principles of cleanliness, purity and safety will they derive true satisfaction from their service,” said district collector Deelip Swami. He was speaking at a special felicitation ceremony for hotel operators organised by the food and drug administration on Wednesday. The occasion marked the prize distribution ceremony of the district-level ‘New Year Pledge -Safe Food’ campaign.

District health officer Dr Abhay Dhanorkar was present as chief guest. Assistant commissioner Vivek Patil delivered the introductory remarks, while retired assistant commissioner Sagar Terkar guided the participants. Under the guidance of joint commissioner Sachin Kedare and assistant commissioner Dayanand Patil, food safety officers Sulakshana Jadhavar, Pragya Surse, Varsha Rode, Jyotsna Jadhav, Prashant Ajinthekar and Farid Siddiqui organised the programme.

About the campaign

The campaign was conducted from December 24 to January 10 under the concept of food and drug administration minister Narhari Zirwal and as per the directives of food safety commissioner Shridhar Dube-Patil. During this period, 70 restaurants, hotels and clubs in the district were thoroughly inspected. Business operators were guided on safe food handling practices and legal provisions through workshops and informational pamphlets. A district-level committee selected the best-performing establishments.

Felicitation of achievers

Hotel operators securing first, second and third positions in the campaign were honoured with certificates and bouquets at the hands of district collector Deelip Swami. Food business operators who scored more than 80 per cent were also specially felicitated by the dignitaries. The programme was compered by Kirtika Jhade, while Yogesh Chibhade delivered the vote of thanks.
