Aurangabad, Feb 5:

Chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the much-awaited Rs 1680 crores water supply scheme for the Aurangabad city after a wait of almost one year. He inspected the water tank work at Delhi Gate area on Friday. He planted sapling on the occasion.

Thackeray arrived at the venue at around 12.30 pm. District guardian minister Subhash Desai, minister of state Sandipan Bhumre, minister of state Abdul Sattar, former MP Chandrakant Khaire, MLC Ambadas Danve, MLA Sanjay Shirsath, district collector Sunil Chavan, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey and others were present.

The new water supply scheme is implemented through the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran. In the backdrop of the upcoming municipal corporation election, this scheme has become very important for Shiv Sena.

The police had implemented strict security at the venue. The reporters were given passes for three programmes in the city. However, the schedule was cancelled at the last moment due to which the reporters without the passes of this programme were not allowed inside the venue.

Meanwhile, the BJP activists led by district president Sanjay Kenekar, Sameer Rajurkar, Rajgaurav Wankhede and others gathered at the gate of the venue and demanded that they have to present memorandum to the chief minister. The police took around 15 to 20 activists in the police vehicles with them.
