Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “We have 18 per cent of the world’s population. However, only 4 pc of water is available. Out of this, 2.5 pc of water is available on the surface. This situation needs to be taken seriously and it is the responsibility of all of us to conserve the available natural resources,” said Dr U Kamachi Mudali, Vice-Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai.

He was speaking at the two-day International Conference on ‘Nano-Bio-Info and Cogno-Technology for Societal Benefit’ (ICNBICT-2025) being organised by the Department of Physics, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, MGM University which was kicked off at Rukhmini Hall on Monday.

Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University Vice Chancellor Dr Atul Vaidya, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre internationally renowned scientist J V Yakhmi, scientist Dr R S Shinde, MGM University Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam, Vice Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal, Dean Dr Prapti Deshmukh, Registrar Dr Ashish Gadekar, director Dr. A.S. Khemnar, Dr Kranti Jakade and others were present. Emeritus Professor Dr K M Jadhav introduced the programme and Dr Kranti Jakade proposed the vote of thanks. VC Dr U Kamachi Mudali said as per the UN Agenda 2030, a total of 17 goals and 169 targets were set and water is one of them.
