Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Arun Tupe, a popular social media content creator known for his humorous Instagram reels, died on Tuesday at his residence in Balaji Nagar, leaving fans and fellow creators in shock.
According to family members, Tupe woke up around 6 am as usual and told them he would sleep again for a while. However, when his mother later tried to wake him, he did not respond. Alarmed relatives rushed him to a nearby clinic, from where doctors advised that he be immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Doctors there declared him dead.
Tupe ran the Instagram account ‘Kon Arun Tupe’, which had around 1.79 lakh followers. He had posted a reel just hours before his death, reportedly shot in the Akashwani area on a viral song. He had also scheduled a café promotional shoot at 10 am on Tuesday.
Doctors said the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, though relatives mentioned that he had a history of epilepsy. Police said viscera has been preserved for analysis after the postmortem. “The cause of death has been kept reserved and will be known only after the final report,” said police inspector of Jawaharnagar police station, Sachin Kumbhar.
Tupe came from a modest family. His mother works as a tailor while his father runs a sound business. He is survived by his parents and a younger brother.
Content creators from the city mourned his sudden death, remembering him as a kind-hearted and humble person. Many said he never hurt anyone and remained grounded despite gaining popularity. Several recalled that he guided newcomers in the field and helped them understand content creation. When someone once referred to him as a “reel star”, Tupe reportedly replied, “I am not a reel star, I am a content creator.”
Several creators and admirers gathered outside the GMCH postmortem department, while social media was flooded with his old videos and tributes.
