Copper cables worth Rs 1.48 lakh were stolen from the United Breweries Limited (Ajanta) plant in Waluj MIDC. The theft came to light early Sunday, and a case was registered at the Waluj MIDC Police Station.

Police said two bundles of black CU copper cable of Polycab, each worth Rs 74,000 and measuring 54 metres, were stolen from an open space near the store room. The complaint was filed by Subhash Thorat (53), a plant employee. Police registered a case on Friday and have begun investigation. Repeated thefts in the industrial estate have raised concerns among entrepreneurs, who have demanded stronger security in the area.
