Aurangabad, March 1:

The Corona vaccination of the senior citizen above 60 years and above 45 with co-morbidities began in the district from Monday. However, the vaccination drive could run smoothly due to the technical snag in the app. Many old people had to wait for hours for their turn while many were sent back without vaccination at various vaccination centres.

The vaccination is done through Co-win app but there were many technical difficulties in the app on the very first day of the senior citizens’ vaccination. In the morning, the app could not be started and the beneficiaries had to wait for hours. The app started working in the afternoon smoothly and there there was crowd at the centres.

Initially, the beneficiaries had to undergo screen of temperature and oxygen level and other procedures and then they were administered vaccines.

The situation was almost similar at most of the centres including N-11 Health Centre, N-8 and Bansilalnagar and other places.

District vaccination officer, Dr Vijaykumar Wagh, said, there were technical problems as it was the first day of vaccination of senior citizens. The app worked smoothly from afternoon. There are around 5.5 lakh senior citizen in the district and the residents can take decision whether they have to take vaccine from the government centre or private centres, he said.

In all, 237 persons were administered vaccines at three centres in the city by 6 pm today. There are seven vaccination centres in the district. The persons above 45 years with co-morbidities were also administered vaccines. They had to take medical certificate for vaccinations.
