Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 43-year-old manager of a private company was killed when a car hit him near the gate of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada Univeristy (Bamu)on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Eliezer George Ingles (43). He and his wife went on walking at 11 pm after dinner.

According to details, Eliezer, a sales manager in a private company, lived with his family at Shantipura in Nandavan Colony. After having dinner, they went to near University Gate at 11 pm on November 4. He parked his car in front of Bamu Gate and walked towards Ajanta Hostel. The car driver who came from behind hit them. The manager sustained serious injuries in the chest and head. The driver fled from the spot with the vehicle.

The driver of another vehicle which was passing through the area admitted him to Government Medical College and Hospital. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital where he succumbed to the injuries at 5 am. This is the fifth case of hit and run during the last several days.

Jurisdiction dispute delays case registration

The relatives of the deceased had to face a lot of inconveniences while lodging a complaint due to a dispute of jurisdiction between two police stations. Initially, the relatives went to the Cantonment Police Station to lodge a complaint. They were asked about the location incident. On learning about the spot of the accident, they were asked to go to Begumpura Police Station.

Begampura police again expressed doubts about the incident site and instructed them to make a complaint at the Cantonment Police Station After that, the Cantonment police registered a case against the absconding car driver.
