The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court has directed the Police Commissioner to decide on applications related to a fraud case in which Rs 14 lakh was allegedly cheated by promising a bank peon job.
The order was passed by Justice Sandipkumar More and Justice Abasaheb Shinde in connection with a petition filed regarding a 2018 case registered at Begumpura Police Station.
According to the complaint filed by Sunil Ashok Gawali, the accused Shaikh Jafar, Shaikh Hasina, and Shaikh Shabana had promised a bank peon job and collected Rs 14 lakh without providing employment. The case was registered on August 21, 2018, under Sections 420, 406, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The petitioner had submitted applications to the Police Commissioner on March 8, 2022, and November 28, 2025, seeking action in the matter. However, as no decision was taken, he approached the High Court. During the hearing, the government counsel informed the court that the applications would be decided as per law and on merits within four weeks. The court took note of this assurance and disposed of the petition.
The petitioner was represented by adv Narendra D. Sonawane, while additional public prosecutor S.P. Sonpawale appeared for the state.
