Aurangabad, June 3:
The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice B U Debadwar directed the Government pleader on Wednesday to submit district-wise the details of mucormycosis patients treated, recovered and death and required injection supplied between June 2 and 9.
The details will have to submit in court until June 10. Assistant solicitor general Anil Singh who appeared online for the Central Government, informed the HC court that the Central Government supplied 68,360 injections for mucormycosis patients to the State between May 11 and 31.
He said that Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat States have higher patients of mucormycosis than other States of the country. “The manufacturing of injects would increase in next 20 to 25 days the company concerned was directed to increase the production. Two companies, including Hyderabad based Haffkine were given licence to manufacture the injection. A hearing before HC in Mumbai will be conducted on June 8 about the mucormycosis details,” he said. The Aurangabad bench will hold the hearing on June 10.
Amicus curiae adv Satyajit Bora brought to the notice of the court that each patient needs four to five injection daily while one or two were available for a patient.
“Around 70 per cent less than the required quota of injections was supplied. The patients did not get the required treatment. A total of 124 patients died because of this,” he said.
Chief Government pleader D R Kale said that 669 patients are being treated for the past 20 days, 345 patients were discharged, while 124 deaths were reported. Marathwada needed 50,175 vials while it was supplied just 13,428 between May 16 and 30. This was proved in the hearing that just 30 per cent of vials were supplied. The court expressed concern over the condition of patients and the supply of vials.
