“Covid has not over yet. We need to take care for at least five to six months. After unlock, if we do not avoid five mistakes, the third wave of a pandemic is sure. The norms were relaxed, but people should avoid crowding. They follow three-points formula-wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently- and take a vaccine. If one has any symptom, should consult a doctor and do not become super spreader,” said Dr Mangesh Gondavale, chief executive officer of Zilla Parishad, on Wednesday.
He said that the number of Covid patients is increasing and the district has 3,000 active patients.
“The process of relaxing lockdown norms began from June 1. However, mistakes done in the first unlock process has created many problems for health machinery,” he added.
Health experts feel that we should learn a lesson from the first and second waves.
The district administration said that each should take care that Covid should not spread in family, neighbours and town.
The five mistakes of earlier waves included; crowding in festival, meeting, ceremonies, religious programmes, wedding ceremonies, funeral procession; Not following three-point formula-wearing mask, maintaining social distance and frequent hand washing and avoiding to consult doctors when one has any symptom.
The different squads, including Nagri Mitra Pathak, officers of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA)-District Collector office, will ensure that Covid measures should be implemented properly.
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation has set up ten squads to take against those who flout measures at the market, business establishments.
In rural areas, there will be rural vigilance committee comprising tehsil coordination officer and bloc education officers to monitor the implementation of measures.
The first unlock began on August 4, 2020, while there were 15,150 patients in the first wave and 493 of them died.
The second unlock started on June first, 2021, while 1.42 lakh pandemic patients reported while 3,214 patients died.
