Private hospitals in Waluj Mahanagar are instructing the relatives to shift their serious COVID patients to another hospital as their oxygen supply was discontinued. The relatives are confused about where to admit their patient in such a situation.
A total of nine COVID Care Centres (CCCs) were started at Shri Waluj Hospital, Cidco Waluj Mahanagar, Gajanan Hospital and Critical Centre, Ashtavinayak Hospital, Tirupati Hospital, Shri Gajanan Hospital, Ghrishneshwar Multispeciality Hospital, Mamta Hospital, Lilason Hospital and Manik Hospital in industrial estates.
The CCCs have 323 beds with 20 ventilators for critical patients.
The relatives are shelling out a huge amount for their patients’ treatment. The oxygen supply to the CCCs was paralysed, and doctors are worried about this.
There is a question before the doctors how to treat patients who are ventilators after the agency stopped supply of oxygen.
Seven to eight patients were forced to take discharge at Shri Asthavinayak Hospital, Bajajnagar, on Monday.
Dr Amol Korde from Waluj Hospital, Dr Dilip Thombre from Gajanan Hospital and Dr Santosh Kulkarni from Tirupati Hospital told this newspaper that the relatives were instructed to shift their patients to other hospitals as precautionary measures because of the unavailability of oxygen.
Relatives are upset over sudden instruction of shifting the patients.
Congress leader Syed Salim, Dr Sushant Bhujange from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (Waluj Mahanagar) demanded to probe patients' fleecing relatives by private doctors. They made this demand with District Health Officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke.
