Aurangabad, Jan 3:

Commissioner of Police, Dr Nikhil Gupta warned of strict action against those selling and possessing nylon manja in the city.

He was speaking during an awareness drive ‘Save Birds from Nylon Manja’ at Kranti Chowk organized by Pet Lovers Association on Sunday. Environmentalist, Dr Kishor Pathak, Dr S B Naikwade, Beril Sanchis and others were present. The activists informed the people about the ill-effects of nylon manja on birds, animals and even human beings. Every year, youngsters and even adults fly kites with nylon manja during the Sankranti period, but several birds and even human beings have to lose life due to this manja. Hence, an appeal was made that nylon and synthetic manja should not be sold and used in the city.

DCP, Deepak Girhe, ACP Suresh Wankhede, PI Avinash Aghav, Shingare, Tare, Surendra Malale, Devkar, ACP Bahure, PSI Chavan and others were present. Similarly, activists Monika Kale, Purbi Banerjee, Shama Kure, Ajay Rana, Anudeep Maske, Yash Rokde, Masum Saeed, Rima Satdive, Gargi Bagul, Mangal Sonawane, Tanushree Sonawane, Bhalchandra Sonar, Shiv Sarkunde and others were present.
