Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

From April 1, the rates for ready reckoners (market value) are likely to increase. Keeping this in mind, municipal commissioner G Sreekanth on Saturday spent three hours at the Town Planning (TP) section, clearing more than 25 pending building files. Citizens and builders will receive the relevant invoices on Monday, generating at least Rs 15 crore in revenue for the municipal corporation.

March is typically a busy month for filing building permit applications. If the ready reckoner rates rise from April 1, builders may face significant financial impact running into crores of rupees. Some applications were filed this March, and commissioners have the authority to approve certain files to prevent undue hardship for builders. Considering this, the commissioner personally visited the TP section on Saturday, reviewed all pending files, and directed officials to rectify any discrepancies.

Along with deputy director (TP section), Manoj Garje, the commissioner cleared 25 files, which is expected to bring the municipal corporation revenue of up to Rs 15 crore. Deputy town planner Kaustubh Bhave and deputy engineer Shivaji Lokhande were also present during the process.

Decision to keep offices operational

March is an important month for revenue collection. To ensure that work is not affected by festivals or holidays, the commissioner issued a circular keeping all municipal corporation offices open even on holidays. He personally oversaw its implementation.
