Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Former corporator and alert citizen Mohsin Ahmed has objected to the decision of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) municipal commissioner G Sreekanth ordering sanitary inspectors (SI) to seek official permission before sporting beards.

He stated that, through an audio message, the civic chief had ordered the sanitary workers wearing uniforms to keep themselves clean and shave with a trimmed moustache (if one exists) and also instructed the SIs to seek official permission if they are sporting beards.

Ahmed through a letter to the municipal commissioner drew his attention towards the right of sporting a beard awarded to every citizen by the Indian Constitution and also underlined that the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has also given a verdict in this regard. Hence he urged to withdraw the decision of seeking official permission for the sanitary inspectors, stated the press release.
