Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The municipal corporation has received a GST compensation grant of Rs 78.20 crore from the state government for the months of April and May.

The municipal corporation receives more than Rs 33 crore every month from the state government as GST grant assistance. Since the civic body had paid salaries for the past two months from its own funds, the newly received grant is expected to be utilised for various development works.

The Urban Development Department (UDD) of the state government issued a Government Resolution (GR) sanctioning the distribution of GST grants to municipal corporations. Accordingly, through a resolution issued on May 12, the municipal corporation was sanctioned Rs 78.20 crore for April and May.

The monthly GST grant is generally used for payment of salaries of officers and employees as well as electricity bills.
