Dual currency suggestion
Commenting on the rupee’s decline against the dollar, Dr Milind Kamble suggested that the government consider adopting a ‘dual currency’ policy, keeping foreign currency transactions separate. He said that despite the rupee’s depreciation, India’s foreign exchange reserves are strong and the economy remains stable. “If India chooses to use its forex reserves, we have the capacity to match the dollar even within a day, but we have not taken that route,” he said.

No unemployment protests?
Referring to unemployment, Dr Kamble said the government is likely to focus more on unemployment and the fiscal deficit in the upcoming budget. Responding to a question, he remarked, “If unemployment were at an all-time high, there would have been public outrage. Do you see any marches or protests against unemployment?”
