Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Marathi achievers have scaled many heights across the world through their merit, and another name from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has now been added to this list. Adv. Archana Arun Medhekar, an alumna of Manikchand Pahade law college in the city, has been appointed as a justice in the province of ontario (fort frances/kenora) in Canada. This historic appointment has brought pride to Maharashtra.

Justice Archana Medhekar completed her law degree from Manikchand Pahade law college and later obtained her postgraduate law degree (IIM) from Osgoode hall law school, york university. She was admitted to the Ontario bar in 2004 and made her mark in family, corporate and immigration law. In 2008, she established her own law firm, where she not only practised law but also represented more than 350 young clients, helping them secure justice. She has also done notable work with organisations such as the office of the children’s lawyer (OCL) and united nations mediators beyond borders. In recognition of her contributions, the Canadian government honoured her with the ‘Top 25 Canadian immigrants’ award.

Inspiration for students

Justice Medhekar is not only a legal expert but also teaches at York university and Guelph-Humber university. She is widely recognised across Canada for her expertise in law. With her appointment by chief justice Sharon M. Nicklas , she will now serve in the courts at Fort Frances and Kenora. A woman from Maharashtra achieving such a prestigious position in a foreign judicial system is a matter of pride for all.
