DC orders drafting of action plan on environmental changes

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In view of the environmental changes taking place in the district and their impact on air, water and soil, all concerned departments have been instructed to submit an action plan aimed at preventing the adverse health effects caused by pollution and implementing long-term solutions. District Collector Deelip Swami issued these directions and stated that each department must prepare a district-level action plan.

He further said that the plan should include measures related to solid waste management, sewage disposal, and improvement of soil health. The government has also issued instructions to establish Climate Action Cells in Amrut cities, districts and revenue divisions across the state.

A review meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss environmental changes and their overall impact on the atmosphere, public health, biodiversity and cropping patterns, along with the remedial measures to be undertaken by various government departments.

The meeting was attended by zilla parishad chief executive officer Ankit, agriculture officer Prakash Deshmukh, Dr Abhay Dhanorkar, deputy commissioner Swapnil Rathod, coordinator Chandansingh Rathod, department of social forestry’s Sandeep Giri, executive engineer S G Shahpure, assistant conservator of forests Asha Chavan, assistant commissioner (municipal administration) Hrishikesh Bhalerao, Sillod chief officer Bhagwat Bighot, Phulambri chief officer Dnyaneshwar Thombre, MPCB’s Achyut Nandawate, Eco Sattva’s Gauri Mirashi, MSEDCL’s Manish Thakre and MIDC’s regional officer Amit Bhamre, among others.
