Aurangabad, March 6:

The growing numbers of Coronavirus patients in the city since Monday is enforcing the administration to take drastic steps and bring the situation under control, on priority. The municipal administration had a primary-level discussion in this regard today morning. The final decision regarding the implementation of lockdown either from Monday or Tuesday will be taken on Sunday evening, it is learnt.

The situation in the city is going uncontrolled compared to the rural parts of the district. There was reporting of 282 patients on Tuesday, 307 on Wednesday, 308 on Thursday and 353 on Friday.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey confessed, " It is true that the situation is going out of control. Presently, we cannot see any other alternative but to take drastic steps to overcome the situation. The District Disaster Management will be taking a final decision on implementation of lockdown in the city."

Lockdown is not an alternate solution: Save

Meanwhile, the BJP MLA Atul Save said that lockdown is not an alternative to overcome the situation. It will create an impact on the lives of the common public, workers, labourers etc. As a result, we would oppose a 100 per cent lockdown. All of them extended help during last year's lockdown. Who would be going to help this year, he questioned. " There are crowded places during the night. The administration should take action and dispersed the rush. Besides, the administration should discuss with all public representatives, produce alternate solutions before us and then take the decision," said the MLA.
