Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Approval has been granted to fill 5,012 vacant posts of teachers in aided colleges across the State. In addition, 600 teacher posts in universities are also to be filled. The deadline for completing this recruitment is June. Colleges that delay filling the posts will have their vacant positions transferred to other institutions,” said Chandrakant Patil, Higher and Technical Education Minister.

Talking to this newspaper, during his visit to the city on Saturday, Chandrakant Patil said that filling vacant teachers' posts in colleges is essential to improving the quality of higher education in the state.

“A government resolution to this effect has recently been issued, and several meetings have been held to implement the recruitment process, with work already underway. It will be mandatory for newly recruited teachers to be present in classrooms before the new academic session begins in June. Colleges that fail to fill their posts will have those positions given to others. Within the next three to four days, a formula will be announced specifying how many posts each college will receive,” he said.

The minister said that the process of finalising student strength in each college is being carried out on a war footing, though some subjects are posing challenges due to low student enrollment and solutions are being worked out, and an announcement is expected within three to four days. The Minister also stated that after the announcement, the Higher Education Department will immediately begin issuing No Objection Certificates (NoC) to enable institutions to proceed with recruitment without delay.
