Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A deaf Bharatanatyam student Lahari Peddinti, captivated audiences with her debut solo recital, or Arangetram, on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi at Tapadiya Natiya Mandir. Defying all odds, Lahari has pursued her passion for classical dance for over a decade, aided by a speech therapist and a hearing aid.

Her performance, held at Devmudraa, was not just a display of skill but a testament to perseverance and resilience. Born with a hearing impairment, Lahari trained tirelessly to master the intricate rhythms and expressions of Bharatanatyam, proving that physical limitations cannot silence talent. The event was graced by guests, including Dr Rajyalakshmi Seth (fondly called Gurunani), Dr. Jayant Shevtekar, Smt. Sonali Deshmukh and Avtarsingh Sodhi. Accomplished musicians from Mumbai and New Delhi accompanied her, with Sivaprasad N.N on vocals and others. Lahari’s journey serves as an inspiration for many, especially children with disabilities, proving that determination and support can turn any challenge into a stepping stone to success.
