Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A decision about giving permission to handcarts on major roads in the city, including Shahaganj, will be taken after Holi.

Until then, the decision to continue punitive action by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) was taken in a joint meeting of the Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner on Saturday.

It may be noted that the CSMC started taking action against arrogant handcart pullers after an incident manhandling a customer reported. All the handcarts in Shahaganj were very disciplined throughout the day on Saturday after the CSMC started taking action.

A meeting was held at the Smart City office at 3 pm on Saturday with Mayor Sameer Rajurkar, Deputy Mayor Rajendra Janjal, Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar, CSMC Commissioner G Sreekanth, Deputy Commissioner and all senior officers.

The only issue of handcarts was discussed for about an hour and a half. There is bandobast for the Holi festival in the city. So, it was decided to continue punitive action until then. All the handcarts and stall owners in the city were warned of punitive action if they create traffic obstruction by doing unauthorised business.

G Sreekanth said that it is necessary for handcart pullers to follow discipline. Permission will be given by the Civic Body soon to operate handcarts. Even after this, if the handcart and kiosk are run in an undisciplined manner, legal action will be taken and the handcart and kiosk, along with its materials, will be confiscated.

Sword hanging over corporators

Some corporators encouraged the encroachment. From now on, action will be taken to cancel the post of the corporators if they come to stop them while taking action. The administration has warned of lodging cases against leaders, activists, organisations, and citizens.

CSMC runs by law

The Municipal Corporation will soon open a separate cell to give permission to handcarts. The administration should not tolerate anyone's bullying in the city. Those concerned should note that the Municipal Corporation runs according to the rules and laws.
