Chhatrapait Sambhajinagar: The work of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray's memorial at Priyadarshini Park in the MGM area has reached the final stage.
A total of 6,000 indigenous trees were planted by the Chhatrapait Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC)'s Garden Department. Green lawn was planted on 4,000 square meters. The dedication ceremony has been postponed as the work of Balasaheb Thackeray's statue is incomplete.
The work of constructing the Shiv Sena chief's memorial and a park on a 17-acre area in the MGM area started in 2017. Even after 9 years, the work is still incomplete. The special thing is that Rs 38 crore was spent on this project. The Delhi-based contractor did the civil work at a snail's pace. The contractor repeatedly extended the deadline.
However, the administration did not show the courage to impose a penalty. The work on the Shiv Sena chief's statue has not been completed either. A clay model was made and presented to the selection committee to create a 51-foot-tall statue. The statue will be made of bronze.
The work of the statue is being done by Sarmad Creations of Dhule. A total of 6,000 indigenous trees have been planted in the area around the memorial. Also, greenery has been created on 4,000 square meters.

Follow-up began to decrease
The then Guardian Ministers Ramdas Kadam and Subhash Desai had focused on speeding up the work of the memorial until 2022. Uddhav Thackeray himself had also visited the memorial repeatedly and inspected it. There was a split in the Shiv Sena on June 20, 2022. After that, the work was neglected. Recently, Uddhav Sena leader Ambadas Danve visited the memorial and made suggestions.
