Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Vishwanath Swami, elected from Prabhag No. 11 on a BJP ticket, allegedly provided incorrect information in the affidavit submitted with his nomination papers. Manish Narwade has requested the municipal corporation election returning officer to cancel Swami’s post on this basis.

In the complaint, Narwade stated that Swami left the column on criminal background blank. He is facing an FIR registered at City Chowk Police Station under No. 193-2018 for offences under Sections 143, 149, 269, and 270 of the IPC. He has failed to appear on court dates, leading to two warrants being issued against him. The court has also issued a bailable warrant. This serious information was not disclosed in his nomination affidavit. Furthermore, the scrutiny form for the candidate’s nomination does not bear the signature of the officer who conducted the verification. Swami allegedly provided false information to the Election Commission.

The complaint also mentions that Swami carried out unauthorised construction on the N-5 Cidco shoplet plot. In response, Swami told the newspaper that there was no unauthorised construction and that only one case is registered at City Chowk. He has attached a police certificate to support this and claimed that the complaint is being made to harass him, with no factual basis.
