Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Although there is double the water storage in large, small, and medium projects in Marathwada compared to last year, the region is gradually starting to face tanker rounds. Particularly in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the capital of the region, there are currently the most tanker rounds, despite the presence of the Jayakwadi Dam.

The temperature has been rising day by day. On Monday, the average maximum temperature in the region was 39°C. Due to the increase in temperature, the water in the reservoirs is decreasing because of evaporation. All districts have been instructed to prepare a drought contingency plan for the next three months.

Currently, 19 tankers are providing water supply to 24 villages including three hamlets across 8 districts in Marathwada. This number is expected to rise to around 300 in the next three months, with the tanker count potentially reaching around 400. The administration has undertaken control of 70 wells. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 17 tankers are operating, while 2 are active in Nanded. The divisional administration has reported increasing demands for tankers from other districts.

As of now, the Jayakwadi Dam has 57.61% of its total water storage. Last year, on March 24, the storage was only 23.16%.
