A bag containing Rs 30,000, withdrawn from a bank to pay her son’s MBBS fees, was lost on the road. However, in a heartening act of honesty, social activists returned the bag to the mother, reaffirming faith in humanity. The mother’s tears of anxiety turned into relief after the bag was handed back on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Thursday near Wockhardt Chowk on the Cidco- Harsul T-Point road, where a bag was found lying by the roadside. Social activists Satish Suradkar, Pratap More, and Raju Gotwal from Ambedkar Nagar picked up the bag and discovered a bank passbook, Aadhaar card, PAN card, and Rs 30,000 in cash inside. Based on the documents found in the bag, they immediately contacted the Jadhavwadi–Harsul branch of the State Bank of India. With the assistance of branch manager Jadhav, they obtained the account holder’s contact number and reached out. It was confirmed that the bag belonged to Shalinitai Gokhale, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Her son is pursuing MBBS studies in Amravati, and she had withdrawn the amount to pay his fees. She had been deeply distressed after losing the bag. She was promptly called to the bank branch, where in the presence of the branch manager, Rs 30,000 in cash along with all important documents were handed over to her. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Shalinitai Gokhale thanked the social activists for their honest act. The incident once again proved that honesty and humanity still thrive in society, and the trio’s example stands as an inspiration for others.
