Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A dispute over crop insurance funds allegedly led two sons to assault their own father and aunt at Kanchanwadi on February 4, leaving them seriously injured.

The accused have been identified as Avinash Gaikwad (22) and Somesh Gaikwad (25), residents of Kanchanwadi. The complainant, Bhimrao Gaikwad (56), owns agricultural land at Nadi Bodkha in Ambad tehsil. According to the complaint, on the evening of recently, the sons demanded the crop insurance amount credited to their father’s bank account. When Bhimrao refused, a heated argument followed, prompting him to take shelter at his sister’s house nearby. On February 4 around 2 pm, the accused allegedly went to the aunt’s residence and assaulted their father. They also attacked the aunt and her children when they intervened, causing injuries. After receiving medical treatment, Bhimrao lodged a complaint. Assistant police sub-inspector Sunil Badgujar registered a case and further investigation is underway.
