Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the names of rural district presidents on Tuesday. However, the selection of the city president has been delayed due to internal factionalism within the party.

Sanjay Khambayate and Suhas Shirshat have been reappointed as district heads for the rural area. Khambayate will handle three assembly constituencies, while Shirshat will manage three others.

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the likely reorganization of constituencies under the Delimitation Commission, it is being speculated that the old faces were given another opportunity. Disputes over the city president's selection have led to efforts to create a false narrative, causing the decision to be postponed at the state level. However, Khambayate and Shirshat were given another chance after lobbying for their reappointment, as they had not served their full term.

Decision Expected in 4-5 Days

There is competition within the party for the position of city president, between the first and second faction. The core committee of the party members submitted three names each in sealed envelopes. Once these envelopes were sent to the state office, one of the secretaries opened them to prioritize the candidates. The attempts to manipulate preferences were noted by party ministers. The decision on the city president is expected in 4-5 days.
