Waluj police station in Aurangabad has today registered an offence against a doctor for divorcing his wife (also a doctor), in front of patients sitting in the clinic, two months ago, at Limbe Jalgaon.

Police said Dr Samina (of Waluj MIDC area) was married to her distant relative Dr Jamil Shaikh (of Borgaon Sakani in Sillod) on July 16, 2017. There was no scope in running a clinic in the village of in-laws. Hence her father obtained a place on rent so that the couple could set up the clinic and practice, in Limbe Jalgaon. Her father paid for the rent. In the meantime, Dr Samina gave birth to a baby girl. This paved the way for the in-laws to harass her. They would abuse and torture her mentally and physically. Dr Samina did not inform her husband and her parents about the ill-treatment, hoping that the in-laws would change their attitude one day.

Divorce in front of patients

On October 23, the husband picked a quarrel with his wife without any reason. Dr Jamil got aggressive, and in anger, he pronounced gave divorce, in front of two patients Syed Haris and Sultana Alure, sitting in the clinic. Later on, the accused left the place saying that he had given divorce and wanted to marry another woman. Dr Samina today contacted the Waluj police station and complained against her husband. The police have registered an offence against Dr Jamil. Under the guidance of police inspector Sandeep Gurme, PSI Laxman Umbare is investigating the case.
