Aurangabad, Dec 29:

People swallow nails, pins, coins, lighters, etc but this was something different. Doctors at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) successfully removed a toothbrush from a man’s stomach who had bizarrely swallowed it while brushing on Saturday morning.

The patient has been identified as Rajesh Jadhav, a resident of the Sunday market area. According to doctors, Jadhav swallowed the whole toothbrush while brushing his teeth on December 26 morning. Meanwhile, he felt severe pain in his stomach and was admitted to the casualty ward in GMCH. Later, the CT Scan revealed a toothbrush in his stomach. Immediately, a team of doctors under the guidance of dean Dr Kanan Yelikar and head of the surgery department Dr Sarojini Jadhav performed surgery and removed the toothbrush. A team comprising of Dr Junaid Shaikh, Dr Avinash Ghadge, Dr Omar Khan, Dr Sandeep Chavan, Dr Suknya Vinchurkar, Dr Gaurav Bhavsar, anaesthetist Dr Aniket Rakhunde and Dr Vishakha Walke performed the surgery. The patient is kept at the ward no 18 and his condition is completely alright,” said doctors.
