Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A distribution transformer supplying electricity to farmland in Gut No. 208 at Ladsawangi caught fire due to a short circuit around 4.45 pm on Sunday, triggering a large blaze and causing damage to nearby crops.

Residents said the fire started at one DP and began spreading towards two nearby transformers. As the lineman did not respond to calls and the substation mobile remained busy, locals managed the situation after the power supply was disrupted. Citizen Anil Padul said the alertness of residents helped avert a major mishap. Junior engineer Sandeep Sonune of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said a written explanation would be sought from the concerned lineman for not answering calls and the matter would be reported to senior officials.
