Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism, which places scientific thinking and the holistic development of humanity at its core. Instead of the Hinayana and Mahayana traditions within Buddha Dhamma, Dr Ambedkar propounded 'Navayana'. The 'Navayana' path of Buddhism is a confluence of scientific rationality and spiritual values,” said Dr Pradeep Gokhale, a prominent philosopher and scholar.
He was speaking at a lecture on ‘Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's Philosophy' organised in the auditorium of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Monday as part of the birth anniversary celebration.
Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari presided over the event. Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, Management Council members Basavaraj Mangrule and adv Dattatray Bhange and Director of Student Welfare Board Dr Kailas Ambhure were seated on the dais.
Pradeep Gokhale said that rising above narrow thinking and working for the development of all humanity was the defining characteristic of Babasaheb's entire life.
