Aurangabad, Oct 28:

Dr Shyam Triambakrao Shirsath, the principal of Vivekanand College, was appointed Pro-vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) on Wednesday.The university received the appointment of Dr Shyam from Governor and chancellor of the universities Bhagatsingh Koshyari. Dr Shirsath is a professor in the Public Administration Department of Bamu. But, he joined Vivekanand as principal after taking lien leave of three years from December 20, 2017. He is also a chairman of the public administration department and member of the academic council. Dr Shirsath will take charge from Dr Pravin Wakte soon.

It may be noted that Dr Ashok Tejankar took charge as first VC on February 26, 2018 and continued up to June 3, 2019 while Dr Pravin Wakte was appointed incharge Pro-VC on August 6, 2019. Dr Shyam Shirsath will be the third pro-VC.

He has 22 years of teaching and research experience and eight years of administrative experience.

Meanwhile, VC Dr Pramod Yeole, registrar Dr Jaishri Suryavanshi congratulated Dr Shirsath on his appointment.He published five books including Prashaskiya Vicharvant (Administrative Thinkers), Lokprashasanshastra (Science of Public Administration), Kautilyache Prashaskiy Vichar (Kautilya’s Administrative Thoughts). Dr Shirsath published 39 research papers in national and international journals and received two research projects from the University Grants Commission. A total of 13 students Ph D and 28 M Phil under his guidance.
