Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

City-based plastic and cosmetic surgeon Dr Ujwala Dahiphale has been elected as a member of the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), the statutory body governing allopathic doctors in the state.

The MMC consists of 18 members, of whom nine are elected and nine are nominated. The council oversees the affairs of nearly 2.40 lakh registered medical practitioners in Maharashtra, including those holding MBBS, MS, MD, and MCh (super-speciality) degrees. It acts as a link between the state government and the medical fraternity, ensuring compliance with regulations such as registration, renewal, and professional conduct.

The MMC elections were held on Sunday, April 26, with 60 candidates in the fray. The results, declaring Dr Dahiphale’s victory, were announced on Thursday morning. Of the nine elected members today, she is the lone female member.
