#International Women's Day Special

"The road to joy isn't paved with ease, but with the courage to choose your own path." That's what Ashwini believes.

Her helmet visor reflects the vibrant sunrise, scorching sun and golden sunset as she drives miles through the streets of the city. Her Zomato app buzzes everyday at around 8 am, signaling the start of another day. This is not a typical start for a Bcom graduate, perhaps, but Ashwini is also not the one for typical.

Once, she would sat behind a desk, balancing ledgers, the fluorescent lights of an accounting firm in her world. But a heart surgery changed everything. It was not just physical.lt was a shift in perspective. The sterile office, the predictable routine, suddenly felt suffocating. She craved open air, the pulse of the city, and found joy in simply delivering the smiles.

Breaking stereotypes

Her husband, who runs a Flower business, has been supporting her wholeheartedly. Initially. there were raised eyebrows, whispers of a "woman delivering food?" But Ashwini broke the stereotypes. Each order, each interaction, was a tiny victory for her. She navigates bustling markets, quiet residential lanes, and towering apartment complexes.

Encountering Customers

Ashwini encountered a kaleidoscope of customers. Some days, warmth and gratitude filled her heart. Others brought challenges, dismissive words, or impatient demands. But she met each situation with unwavering strength, letting the good moments fuel her, and the difficult ones strengthening her.

Fuelling dreams with pride

While sharing her experiences she says, "I enjoy my work very much, I feel happy." She further mentions that "When women open the door, there's a spark in their eyes," with a quiet pride in her voice. "They see me, and they see what's possible." From steaming breakfast orders to late-night cravings, she delivers magical food boxes. By 10 pm, weary but fulfilled, she parks her scooter, counting not just her earnings, but the smiles she'd delivered. Every rupee earned was a brick in the foundation for fuelling her dream. Her dream is to build her own small business.
