A drunk driver blocked a truck near the A.S. Club signal in Waluj Industrial Area while arguing with traffic police on Tuesday afternoon.

Sunil Chavan of Waluj Traffic Unit filed a complaint at MIDC Waluj Police Station. Chavan stopped a suspicious vehicle and detected a strong smell of alcohol. The driver admitted to drinking but refused to show his license and argued with police. His friend, Anil Navale (29, Langi, Gangapur), arrived on a two-wheeler and joined the confrontation. Truck driver Bappasaheb Lakde (32, Khamgaon, Beed) performed a U-turn and stopped his truck (MH 14 DM 7716) at high speed, blocking the signal and halting traffic on the Ahilyanagar–Sambhajinagar route. Traffic police called for backup, took both men into custody, and, with Sai Ram Crane, cleared the truck. Breathalyzer tests confirmed both were intoxicated. Legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act was initiated for reckless driving and endangering lives.
