A young man, intoxicated and vulnerable, was deceived by two individuals who posed as helpers before robbing him of his valuables and fleeing. The incident, which occurred on March 24, came to light after a case was filed at MIDC Cidco police station on Wednesday.

The victim, Salman Khan Mohammad Zaki (34), a mobile repair shop owner from Naregaon, had been drinking since morning. By 4.30 pm, he collapsed near Patel Tower, where two men approached under the guise of assistance. Offering to take him home, they placed him on a two-wheeler. However, instead of genuine aid, they seized his vehicle, mobile phone, and a wallet containing Rs 8,000 in cash before abandoning him. Subsequent inquiries at a liquor store identified the culprits as local troublemakers, Bhavdya and Wasim from Chamchamnagar. Police have launched an investigation and are tracking the duo.
