Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A father killed his intoxicated son in self-defense after the son attacked him at their home in Shriramnagar on Friday night. The next morning, the son remained unresponsive. When taken to GMCH for treatment, doctors examined him and declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Narayan Tupe (28, Shriramnagar, Vadgaon Kolhati). His father, Vinayak Tupe (55), has been arrested, and API Arvind Shinde is leading the investigation. The incident occurred around 9 pm on Friday when Narayan returned home heavily intoxicated. He began abusing his parents, issuing death threats and attempting to attack his father. In self-defence, Vinayak grabbed an iron pestle and struck Narayan on the head. Narayan collapsed, bleeding. The family initially assumed he had passed out due to alcohol. However, when he did not wake up the next morning, they rushed him to the hospital. GMCH doctors later declared him dead.

Family-delayed medical help

Hausabai Tupe (50), Narayan’s mother, suggested taking him to the hospital, but Vinayak refused. He believed Narayan was just unconscious due to alcohol and dismissed the need for medical attention. The family remained silent about the incident overnight.

Morning realization and panic

By 5 am, Narayan was still motionless. His younger brother, Suresh, who has a hearing impairment, called their uncle, Gorakhnath Olekar, for help. Upon arrival, Gorakhnath realized the severity of the situation and contacted another relative, Bhagwan Mahajan. They called a private ambulance and rushed Narayan to GMCH, where doctors declared him dead.

Police investigation and arrest

A case has been registered at Waluj MIDC Police Station under the guidance of PI Rameshwar Gade. PI Rameshwar Gade confirmed that Narayan had a history of alcohol abuse and domestic violence. His regular drunken fights had created tension in the household, and neighbours often complained.

Crime Scene Inspection

Assistant Commissioner of Police Sachin Sanap and other officials inspected the crime scene. They recorded statements and examined the evidence. Assistant Police Inspector Arvind Shinde is leading the investigation. Police continue to probe the case while Vinayak remains in custody.
