Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Police seized eight pieces of bones, a skull and other Aghori materials from the house and hotel of accused Vinod Kailas Ubale (30, Borkhedi) in the sorcery case of Deputy District Collector.

According to details, Deputy Collector of the Election Department Devendra Tukaram Katke (Jalannagar) lodged a complaint with Satara Police Station on March 30.

On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered against Vinod Ubale (Jalna), wife Sarika Devendra Katke, mother-in-law Suvarna Sahebrao Deshmukh, brother-in-law Atish Deshmukh (Sonari, Dharashiv), domestic worker Chhayabai Balaji Gaikwad and school employee Sangeeta.

In his complaint, Katke alleged that due to a family dispute, his wife, with the help of the other accused, tried to use sorcery through certain rituals to harm him.

They also tried to kill him through poisoning. Vinod, Sarika and Aatish were arrested immediately after a case was registered. Meanwhile, Vinod's father lodged a complaint against Katke with the Jalna police.

Sarika, Vinod and Atish were produced in court on Thursday after their police custody ended. Who and where did they get the bones? The government pleader argued that the sword and pistol used to threaten Katke are yet to be seized and the pen drive containing the conversations of the accused is yet to be examined.

The lawyers of the accused alleged that Katke misused his position and hooked up them in the case unjustly. After hearing both sides, the court ordered an extension of the police custody of Sarika and Vinod by two days. Atish was sent to judicial custody. Adv Kiran Magar argued on behalf of the accused Vinod Ubale.
