Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In a surprising move, municipal commissioner G Sreekanth on Wednesday demoted eight clerks working in the corporation to posts such as peon, security guard, watchman, and sanitation worker. At the same time, he decided to freeze the salary increments of 18 clerks. All the affected clerks had failed the typing test twice, a decision that has caused shockwaves within municipal corporation circles.

In recent years, the administration had promoted Class IV employees to clerical positions. Similarly, employees appointed as original clerks had been required to pass typing tests. Most of the employees failed the first test. They were then given a two-month window to retake the exam. Some still failed, and upon request, the administration allowed them four more opportunities to improve. Even after the fifth attempt, several employees did not pass.

As a result, the following eight clerks, Madhavi Pargaonkar, Irfan Ahmed, Anil Gade, Ajay Dandge, Sunita Dutonde, Narayan Chavan, Vijay Jadhav, and Kailas Jadhav, were demoted to Class IV positions on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the salary increments of 18 clerks have been frozen until they pass the typing test. This group includes Akhil Khan, Mohammad Anwaruddin Qureshi, Raju Pathare, Atul Bankar, Israt Ali, Aniket Puri, Raju Suradkar, Prabhu Chavan, Mohd. Moosa Qureshi, Shafiq Shahbaz Khan, Akhil-ur-Rehman, Shantaram Nikam, Pandharinath Bhosale, Kamal Thakre, Amit Ragde, Ashish Raut, Vilas Pachlore, and Ravindra Chavan. The commissioner has clearly stated that no salary hike will be granted until they successfully clear the typing examination.
