Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Uddhav Sena is likely to get an opportunity to co-opt one corporator in the municipal corporation. Against this backdrop, eight party members are in the race, and their names have reportedly been sent to Matoshree. Discussions within party circles suggest that one name will be finalised for the co-opted corporator post as per the decision of party chief Uddhav Thackeray.
In the municipal elections, Uddhav Sena managed to win only six seats. A minimum strength of 11 corporators is required to co-opt a member. With support from the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), the party is making efforts to secure one co-opted corporator position.
According to sources, the contenders include Yuva Sena district officer Hanuman Shinde, Rohan Anchaliya, Lachhu Pahalwan, former corporator Kamalakar Jagtap, Ashfaq Qureshi, Sachin Wagh, Chetan Kamble, and Gopal Kulkarni. It is learnt that their names have been forwarded in a sealed envelope to Matoshree.
Uddhav Sena leader Ambadas Danve said eight aspirants are in contention. As there is only one post, all of them will be taken to meet the party chief, and the final name will be decided as per his direction. He added that those who lost in the municipal elections are less likely to be considered.
