Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Narsing Maruti Khadke (67, N-4 Cidco), who had been seriously injured after a heavy machine fell on his leg, died during treatment. In connection with the incident, a case was registered on Monday at the MIDC Cidco Police Station against crane operator Anand Mhaske, and other associates on charges of negligence.

Khadke owned a company named Tirupati Hydropneumatics and Services in the Waluj industrial estate. A few days earlier, he had undertaken a contract to supply machinery to Lalit Doors Company. After completing work at Shendra, he had also secured work for the same company at the Chikalthana industrial estate.

On May 14, at around noon, he went to the company premises to deliver a seven-tonne bending machine. The process of moving the machine using a forklift vehicle was underway. Khadke was standing nearby and guiding the workers during the operation. However, forklift operator Mhaske and his associates allegedly acted negligently, causing the machine to detach from the crane and fall directly onto Khadke’s leg. He suffered severe injuries and excessive bleeding.

The owner of the company, Lalit Sonawane, and others admitted him to a nearby private hospital, where he later died during treatment.

Daughter files complaint; police book two and others

Following her father’s death, Khadke’s daughter Megha lodged a complaint with MIDC Cidco Police Station Inspector Somnath Jadhav. She clearly stated that the forklift operator and the concerned employees were responsible for her father’s death.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Mhaske and others, assistant police inspector Kailas Lahane said. He added that efforts are underway to trace the accused, and further investigation into the incident will be carried out after their arrest.
