Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Jewellery worth Rs 63,000 belonging to an elderly woman who had come to the city for medical treatment was stolen by an unidentified thief in a moving state transport bus on Friday afternoon. A case has been registered at the Gangapur police station.

Lakshmibai Dadasaheb Shelke (62), a resident of Babhulgaon in Paithan tehsil, had come to a private hospital in Gangapur city with her husband for treatment on Friday. After completing the treatment, at around 2.30 pm, she boarded a bus from the Gangapur bus stand to travel towards Gangapur Phata.

During the journey, taking advantage of the crowd in the bus, an unidentified thief stole gold jewellery from around her neck. The stolen items included a gold beaded mangalsutra (4 grams) and a gold ornament with a gold pendant and beads (5 grams), making a total of 9 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 63,000. She realised that the jewellery had been stolen when she got down from the bus.
