Teacher union demands rescheduling of elections as Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) coincides with polling date.

The CTET is scheduled nationwide on February 7 and 8. However, voting for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections has been fixed on February 7, with teachers appointed to conduct the polling. The Teacher union has demanded either a change in the election date or exemption of appointed teachers from election duty. On Friday, a memorandum regarding this issue was submitted to tehsildar Navnath Vagwad. Many teachers have registered for the exam, and being assigned election duty on the same day may force them to miss it. The union’s memorandum warned that this could adversely affect teachers’ professional growth, holding the election machinery responsible. Present at the submission were district president Sunil Jadhav, Vice President Sattar Sheikh, and others.
