Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The election for the posts of nine Panchayat Samiti (PS) chairmen and vice chairmen in the district will be held on March 10.
District Collector Deelip Swami announced the schedule for this election. He also appointed Deputy Collector as the presiding officer for the election.
The Rural Development Department has sent a letter directing the election of ZP president, Vice president, PS chairmen and vice chairmen before March 20. Accordingly, Swami ordered a special meeting to be organised at 2 pm, on March 10, for the election of Panchayat Samiti chairmen and vice chairmen.
The order states that nominations for the posts of chairmen nd vice chairmen should be accepted two hours before the meeting. One-third of the members will be required to be present at the meeting to constitute a quorum for the meeting.
The schedule for the election has been fixed one month after the results of the ZP and PS elections on January 9. The SDM and Deputy District Collector will be the presiding officers of the special meeting. This election will be held as per the reservation that has been decided.
