Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
A 26-year-old electrician, Nageshwar Prashant Ausekar of Jay Bajrangnagar, Garkheda, was robbed while walking home from Mukundwadi railway station near Vishrantinagar and Tuljabhavani temple at around 1.30 am on April 29.
Two unidentified assailants stopped him, threatened him with a wooden stick, and snatched his mobile phone. They also took Rs 32 from his pocket before fleeing. The victim, fearing attack, did not resist. A case has been registered at Pundliknagar police station.
This is the third consecutive robbery incident in the area. On April 26, a worker travelling with two minors was assaulted with knives and sticks and robbed of Rs 15,000 between Mukundwadi railway station and Cidco bus stand. In another incident at Cidco bus stand, four passengers were robbed of mobile phones and wallets within half an hour. The Shivajinagar–Mukundwadi railway station–Cidco bus stand corridor, once a developed stretch, is now increasingly under the influence of armed and intoxicated groups, raising concerns that it has effectively turned into a “crime road.” Earlier reports had already highlighted rising criminal activity in this belt.
