Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A speeding container truck struck a motorcycle at Bhaggav Chowphuli on the old Nagpur-Mumbai Highway at Vaijapur tehsil of the district on Wednesday morning, killing an 18-year-old college student on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Rushikesh Balasaheb Shete (Bhaggav, Taluka Vaijapur). Rushikesh was studying Engineering at MIT- Rotegaon.

He had left home on his motorcycle (MH 20 HA 5148) on Wednesday morning to switch off the electric pump in his farm.

While crossing the road at Bhaggav Chowphuli, a speeding container truck (MH 05 DK 9760) heading towards Kopargaon struck his motorcycle with great force, killing him on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, Police Patil Anil Dhiwar, with the help of locals, rushed Rushikesh to the Sub-District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He is survived by his parents and one sister.

Bhaggav Square has become increasingly dangerous due to heavy traffic and over-speeding vehicles on the old Nagpur-Mumbai Highway. Following this accident, angry citizens have demanded immediate safety measures at the location. Vaijapur Police have initiated the process of registering a case and further investigation is underway.
