CMIA, in association with ESIC, organised an awareness session on “Benefits and Services under ESIC for HR Professionals” at Marathwada Auto Cluster, Waluj on Wednesday.

CMIA honorary secretary Mihir Soundalgekar said HR plays a crucial role in employee welfare and that effective implementation of ESIC strengthens workers’ health, safety and social security.

Keynote speaker Dr. Anjali Bansod, medical officer at ESIC Hospital, said ESIC is upgrading to modern healthcare services with expanded facilities, and proposals to widen eligibility are under consideration. She stated that employees earning up to Rs 21,000 per month are covered, with contributions of 0.75% from employees and 3.25% from employers (total 4%). Benefits include medical care, sickness and extended sickness benefits, maternity, temporary and permanent disability, dependents’ benefits and funeral expenses. Dr. Akshay Jadhav and Pandurang Tarse (DCBO, Waluj) addressed queries during the interactive session, moderated by Ravindra Manvatkar.
