Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

To strengthen vehicle security, the government has made it mandatory for all vehicles to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Several deadlines were given for compliance. However, due to a lack of expected response from citizens and technical issues, the government has once again decided to extend the deadline. Despite this, many vehicles in the city still continue to use old number plates.

Notably, it is not just ordinary citizens, vehicles belonging to government departments such as the district collector’s office, police commissionerate, and the state transport corporation are also seen without the updated number plates. This raises serious questions about how effectively the rules are being implemented.

High Security Registration Plates are considered crucial for preventing vehicle theft, fake number plates, and criminal activities. In such a situation, when compliance with government orders is expected from everyone, many vehicle owners continue to ignore the directive.

Even after the extension, it is necessary for both the concerned departments and vehicle owners to take the matter seriously. Otherwise, they may face strict action in the future. The administration must also ensure effective implementation of the drive and increase public awareness.

Overall, the enforcement of High Security Registration Plates should not remain limited to a rule on paper but must be implemented in practice, requiring collective efforts from all concerned.
