The English Schools Federation on Monday urged the state government to accept the pending demands of English-medium school managements and introduce a dedicated standard operating procedure (SOP) for their functioning.

The demand was raised during a core committee meeting held at Ellora English School on Beed Bypass Road. The session was chaired by regional vice-president Prahlad Shinde.

Retired assistant deputy director of education M K Deshmukh, primary education officer Jayashree Chavan and secondary education officer Ashwini Lathkar guided the participants. Deputy education officer Sitaram Pawar, senior education extension officer Choure, advocate Milind Joshi, co-general secretary Ratnakar Phalke and district president Bhagwan Pawar were among those present.

In his introductory address, Phalke outlined the issues faced by English-medium schools and highlighted long-pending demands. School management representatives shared their concerns, to which Deshmukh responded with detailed explanations and guidance on resolving issues at the government level.

The federation said that a separate SOP would help maintain coordination between parents and school administrations, prevent disputes, ensure timely fee collection and reduce complaints to the education department.

Officials also guided participants on school documentation, administration, examinations, infrastructure, student safety, staff verification, CCTV installation, PTA formation, fee regulation laws, the National Education Policy and recruitment procedures.

Shinde criticised remarks made by education minister Dadaji Bhuse, stating that they had created confusion. He also stressed the need for legal clarity and a school protection framework, urging institutions to unite under the federation.
